School of Information Science & Engineering, University of Jinan (UJN), China, is seeking highly motivated MS students for three years of studies on a Scholarship (Chinese Government Scholarship, Shandong Government Scholarship, UJN President Scholarship and other). All studies are in ENGLISH, including ALL courses, supervision, papers, thesis and other such activities involved.

Eligibility. Eligible applicants will:
1) Be a citizen of a country other than People’s Republic of China, and be in good health;

3) Be a BS or BEng holder (under the age of 35) in the field related to Computer Science/Engineering, Information and Communication Technologies or Mathematics;

Yuehui Chen has long been engaged in teaching and research of intelligent computing theory and application, bioinformatics and system biology. He Undertakes many research programs, including the National Key Research and Development Program of China, the National Natural Science Fund, the key technology research of Shandong province, the natural science fund of Shandong province, etc. He achieves two natural science prizes (class three)of Shandong province, one progress prize (class three)in science and technology of China general chamber of commerce, two scientific research achievement prizes (class one) of colleges and universities in Shandong province. So far, more than 200 papers of Chen have been published in the international journal and conference, including 76 papers indexed by SCI and 174 papers indexed by EI.
In 2008, he was named as the outstanding Chinese youth expert of Shandong province, and was awarded the title of education advanced worker in Shandong province in 2010.
Meanwhile, he is member of IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics Society, ACM, CCF, and CA. Jinping Li is currently a Professor in School of Information Science and Engineering, University of Jinan. He received PhD from University of Science and Technology of China in 1997, his major is Theoretical Physics, specialized in Particle Physics. Afterwards, his research interests turned to computer application. He was a visiting professor at Department of Computer Science, The University of Birmingham, UK, in 2005. He is now the head of Institute of Pattern Recognition and Intelligent, a member of the standing committee of Machine Learning of CAAI, a member of committee of Pattern Recognition of CAAI, a member of committee of Artificial Intelligence and Pattern Recognition of CCF, a member of committee of Computer Vision of CCF, a member of committee of Machine Vision of CSIG. He was an Organizing Committee Chairman of 14th Conference of Multi-value and Fuzzy Logic of CCF, and he was session chairman of more than 10 academic conferences, and will be the program committee chair of 2017 International Workshop on Pattern Recognition.
Now he focuses on the cooperation with many enterprises, and tries to solve various practical problems in machine vision and digital image processing. The total funding including from both government and enterprises is more than 5 million RMB. He won the second prize of 2014 Wu Wenjun AI Science and Technology Award, the first prize of 2014 China Automation for Petroleum and Chemical Industry Science and Technology Award. As the first author or corresponding author he has published more than 100 peer reviewed papers in international and Chinese journals and conference proceedings, and 4 patents in the areas of digital image processing and computer vision.

Professor Zhenxiang Chen is currently the vice dean of School of Information Science and Engineering, University of Jinan. He is a senior member of CCF, a member of IEEE and ACM, and has served as the technical program committee member for numerous international conferences. Prof. Chen received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Technology from Shandong University, China, in 2011. He was a visiting scholar at Computer Science Department, Virginia Tech, USA, in 2014.
Prof. Chen leads the Lab of Cyber Intelligence (http://loci.ujn.edu.cn/loci.html). He is a Ph.D. supervisor and master supervisor of University of Jinan, and was honored the outstanding master supervisor of University of Jinan in 2016. His research interests are in mobile computing, cyber security, big data and computation intelligence, currently focusing on mobile security and big data analysis in cyber space. His research has been extensively supported by the Natural Science Foundation of China, Natural Science Foundation of Shandong Province, and Shandong Provincial Key R&D Program, with total grant funding over one million CNY. As the first author or corresponding author, he has published more than 30 peer reviewed papers in international journals and conference proceedings (including Transactions on Information Forensics and Security, Information Sciences, Soft Computing, and IWQoS, etc.), and 6 patents in the areas of cyber security and data intelligence.

Xiuyang Zhao is currently a professor at School of Information Science and Engineering, University of Jinan, China. He received his Ph.D. degree from Shandong University, China, 2006, and worked as a postdoctor at the Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory of Software Engineering, Shandong University, from 2008 to 2010. He serves as the committee member of China Computer Federation CAD&CG Specialized Committee. As the first author or corresponding author, he has published more than 30 peer-reviewed papers in high-quality international journals and conference proceedings, such as Computer-Aided Design, Information Science, Neurocomputing, Applied Soft Computing, etc. His research interests include computer vision, computational intelligence, and virtual reality.

Yuan Zhang received his Ph.D. degree in Control Theory & Engineering both from Shandong University, China in 2011. He is currently an Associate Professor at University of Jinan, and also leads the Ubiquitous Sensing Lab (http://uslab.ujn.edu.cn) where 6 international students are currently pursuing or have been conferred their masters’ degree. Most students from the USLab choose to pursue PHD with full scholarship in top level universities of the world. Dr. Zhang was a visiting professor at Computer Science Department, Georgia State University, USA, in 2014, and has extensive collaborations with international colleagues from 10 countries. As the first author or corresponding author he has published more than 40 peer reviewed papers in international journals and conference proceedings, 1 book chapters, and 6 patents in the areas of wireless networks and mHealth. He has served as Leading Guest Editor for five special issues of IEEE, Elsevier, Springer and InderScience publications, and has served on the technical program committee for numerous international conferences. He is an associate editor for IEEE Access. Dr. Zhang’s research interests are in biomedical signal processing and mHealth, currently focusing on wearable sensing and big data analytics in healthcare domain. Lin Wang received the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Technology from the School of Computer Science and Technology, Shandong University, China, 2011. He is currently an Associate Professor at School of Information Science and Engineering, University of Jinan, China. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science, University of Waterloo, Canada. He serves as Committee Member of China Computer Federation Young Computer Scientists & Engineers Forum, and Committee Member of Special Interest Group on Big Data and Intelligent Computing of Shandong Computer Federation. He is Program Committee Member and Special Session Chair of many international conferences, e.g. SIGCSE China, IEEE PICom. He is the Winner of ACM Jinan Rising Star Award and has been granted by National Science Foundation of China and Shandong Provincial Excellent Young Scientists Foundation. Wang Dong received his doctorate in biophysics from Shaanxi Normal University in 2010. Now he is the member of IEEE, CCF and ACM, the member of YOCSEF (Jinan) of the academic committee, the computer society in Shandong province industrial big data and intelligent manufacturing branch committee member, the part-time associate professor of Qinghai Normal University, the visiting research fellow of Qinghai-Tibet plateau environment and resources key laboratory of the ministry of education, the visiting scholar of University of Waterloo, and the post-doctor of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Wang Dong has long been engaged in teaching and research of intelligent computing theory and application, bioinformatics system biology, and neurodynamic. He undertakes one National Natural Science Fund, one Natural Science Fund of Shandong Province, one Youth Science and Technology Star Program of Jinan City. Meanwhile, he participates in one National Key Research and Development Program of China (key member), five National Natural Science Funds, one Excellent Innovation Team Program of Shandong Province. He achieves one progress prize (class three) in science and technology of China general chamber of commerce, and two scientific research achievement prizes (class two and three) of colleges and universities in Shandong province. So far, more than 30 papers of Wang Dong have been published in the international journals and conferences, including “IEEE/ACM Transactions on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics”, “Bio-Medical Materials and Engineering”, “Basic & Clinical Pharmacology & Toxicolog”, ICONIP, ICIC, ICCSS, and WCCI. 20 papers were indexed by SCI and EI.

Yun-Xia Liu received her Ph.D. degree in Signal and Information Processing from Shandong University, China in 2012. Dr. Liu was a research assistant at Department of Electronic and Information Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University during 2009-2012. From 2012 to 2015, she was a post-doctoral researcher at the school of control science and engineering, Shandong University. In October 2015, Dr. Liu joined the school of information science and engineering, University of Jinan as an Associate Professor.
Dr. Liu’s research interests are in image/video processing, pattern recognition and computational intelligence. Recently she has also extended her study into new areas on deep learning applications in microscopy image processing and information forensic. The former involves works on automatic detection of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) for early diagnosis of malignant tumor while the latter considers source camera identification for information security applications.
As the first author or corresponding author she has published more than 30 peer reviewed papers in international journals and conference proceedings, such as Signal Processing, Journal of Visual Communication and Image Representation, and IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II, etc. Her research has been extensively supported by the Natural Science Foundation of China, China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, and Shandong Province Key Research and Development Program with total grant funding over 600,000 RMB.

Dr. Kun Ma received his Ph.D degree in Computer Software and Theory from Shandong University, Jinan, Shandong, China, in 2011. He is an Associate Professor (University Professor) in Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory for Network based Intelligent Computing and School of Information Science and Engineering, University of Jinan, China. He has authored and coauthored over 60 research publications in peer-reviewed reputed journals and conference proceedings. His entire publications have been cited over 330 times (Google Scholar). Three of his papers have been cited over 20 times. The latest Google h-index of his publications is 9. He has served as the program committee member of various international conferences and reviewer for various international journals. He is the Co-Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Computer Information Systems and Industrial Management Applications (IJCISIM) and International Journal of Autonomic Computing (IJAC). He is the managing editor of Journal of Information Assurance and Security (JIAS). He is the editorial board member of International Journal of Grid and Utility Computing and International Journal of Intelligent Systems Design and Computing. He is the guest editor of International Journal of Grid and Utility Computing, Informatica, International Journal of Communication Networks and Distributed Systems, International Journal of High Performance Computing and Networking, Recent Patents on Computer Science, and International Journal of Services Technology and Management. Sijie Niu received his Ph.D. degree in Patten Recognition & Intelligent System from Nanjing University of Science and Technology, China in 2016. He is currently a Professor at University of Jinan. Dr. Niu was a visiting scholar at Medical Department, STANFORD UNIVERSITY, USA, in 2014. As the first author or co-author he has published more than 30 papers in international journals and conference proceedings, 1 book chapters, and 3 patents in the areas of Image Analysis. Dr. Niu’s research interests are in Pattern Recognition, Machine/deep Learning, Medical Image Processing, currently focusing on Retinal Image Segmentation and Analysis. His research has been extensively supported by the Natural Science Foundation of China, Natural Science Foundation of Shandong Province, China Postdoctoral Science Foundation with total grant funding over 500,000 RMB. Dr. Niu is a member of CCF and IEEE.

About School of Information Science & Engineering
The School of Information Science and Engineering now has 130 members of faculty and staff, 110 of whom are full-time teachers. 70% of the teachers have received their master’s or doctor’s degrees and nearly 30% of them are professors or associate professors. Some of the teachers enjoy special allowance granted by the State Council and some are titled as young academic backbones of Shandong province.
The school offers two postgraduate programs in Computer Science Technology and Signal and Signal System, 4 undergraduate programs in Computer Science and Technology, Electronic Information Science and Technology, Communication Engineering and Network Engineering, and 3 three-year programs in Computer Application, Network Engineering and Computer Science Technology. Apart from being responsible for teaching work, the school also undertakes computer basic teaching work of the university. The school is composed of Department of Computer Science and Technology, Department of Electronic Information Science and Technology, Department of Computer Engineering, Public Teaching Center, Network Center, nine teaching research centers and three experimental teaching centers and with three research centers attached to the school. Currently the school’s enrollment of postgraduates, undergraduates and three-year students, covers more than 20 provinces of the country, and the school now has about 3000 undergraduates and 50 postgraduates.
The school has a lab building of 17,000 square meters. It also has a provincial teaching reform major of Computer Science and Technology, Shandong basic computer experimental demonstration center, Shandong home-manufactured database engineering and technology research center. It has built a provincial key lab for information and control engineering in cooperation with the School of Control Science and Engineering. The school is now in possession of advanced equipment such as computer networks, robots, programmable controller, graphics and image processing system and network switches of internationally well-known brands (CISCO, 3COM, Nortel, SUN, HP, etc.), routers, servers and protocol analyzers and many others. The ATM/1,000,000,000,000,000 Ethernets mixing network environment and the high performance paralleling computer system dawn 3,000 have already been put into the use. The campus net hub, as one of the 4 internet centers among Jinan universities, has the multi-strip optic cable line to join with other universities and allows for convenient interconnection with the public networks such as the telecommunication, radio broadcasting and Bailing network, perfecting a network experimental environment. The school of Information Science and Engineering has three large-scaled computer networks in the Information Building, Automation Building and the Experimental Building of the School of Information. It owns nearly 1500 kinds of machines such as multi-user small machine, servers and microcomputers. The experimental conditions of the school have reached an advanced level compared with other universities of the same class in the country.
Having formed its targeted fields ranging from research of computer networks, database and information systems, Pattern Recognition and Intelligent System to graphics and image processing, it has actively conducted reform of teaching and research in education by means of information. Over the past five years, the school has undertaken more than 20 research projects of “868” programs and of those financed by the National Natural Science Foundation and by Shandong Province, with total funds of 18 million RMB, 10 of which have won Awards for Scientific and Technological Progress of Shandong province and Awards for Excellent Teaching Results of Shandong Province, and more than 400 papers have been published by the domestic well-known academic publications such as “the Chinese Science”, “Automated Journal”, “Electronic Journal”, “Computer Journal”, “Computer Research and development”, “Small Microcomputer System”. It has also had publications by the famous international academic conferences and periodicals such as IEEE, IFAC, IFIP, ACM and so on, among which 40 have been indexed and collected by EI, SCI and ISTP.
